Stock Settlement: An arrangement between brokerage houses for the payment or receipt of cash or securities. It represents the final consummation of a securities transaction and is handled through the stock clearing corporation.
The Stock Settlement Date is the date specified for delivery of securities between securities firms, usually three business days after the execution of an order.
