Investment Banking CertificationQuestion: Who do investment banking professionals interact with most in their position at a firm? (For example, customers, media, employees, etc.)

Answer: The answer to this question varies somewhat by the investment banking professional’s level, but there are some truths for all bankers. As the office hours are quite long, much of the interaction is naturally conducted within the bank itself and even more specifically, within the banker’s immediate working group. Bankers will interact with those both more senior and more junior (include support staff such as assistants, staffers, IT specialists) to them in the group’s hierarchy. Interactions with those outside of the firm are likely to include actual clients (CEOs, COOs, CFOs), prospective clients, lawyers, accountants, and peers at other investment banks.
