Investment Banking CertificationQuestion: What sort of educational requirements do hiring firms look for in potential candidates applying for investment banking positions?

Answer: As a general rule, investment banks hire entry-level analysts who hold degrees from undergraduate schools while entry-level associates are hired from graduate business schools (MBA programs). Technically speaking, the vast majority of hiring actually takes place while the candidates are enrolled in their final year of schooling (college or business school), with the job offer taking effect shortly after graduation. The undergraduate field of study does not have to be focused on finance, business, accounting or economics; all majors are welcome at banks as long as the candidate can demonstrate a desire and ability to learn the workings of an investment bank.
