Question: If I want to work from home in the investment banking field, is that possible?
Answer: Working from home would be extremely unusual in the investment banking field. As noted in other FAQ responses, the vast majority of investment bankers are employed by banking firms of various sizes (from a handful of employees to tens of thousands). Bankers spend much of their time travelling for a number of business-related reasons such as client meetings, new business pitches, meetings with potential investors (for equity and debt offerings), and networking at conferences. Bankers also host many business-related meetings at their offices, and a home office is not likely a sufficient place for such meetings. It is more likely that the rare sole proprietor investment banker (if such a title exists) would work from an office outside the home.
