Investment Banking CertificationQuestion: How do investment banking professionals often find work?

Answer: At the junior investment banking professional level, work is simply handed down from more senior members of the group (and there is likely to be a lot of it handed down!). At the more senior level, the bankers themselves are responsible for generating their own business. The crux of the business generating process is solid networking. In order to win business (be awarded a fee-generating engagement), the investment bankers are likely to have created a pitch book – a set of PowerPoint slides touting the bank itself, the relevant experience with the particular type of deal, the qualifications of the deal team, the expected timeline for the project and a proposed fee arrangement.
